New chief at Southern Cross
New leader:
Southern
Cross Care
(Queensland)’s
new chief ex-
ecutive officer
Jason Eldering
with chairman
Don Neander.
AGED care and retirement living
remains a dynamic industry for
residents and providers alike, and
Southern Cross Care (Queensland)
is committed to providing aged-care
and retirement-living services which
value and respect human life and the
dignity of the individual.
The Royal Commission into Aged Care Qual-
ity and Safety has highlighted future challenges
and opportunities for delivering accessible, af-
fordable and high-quality aged-care services.
There exist real challenges in providing these
services in such a changing environment, par-
ticularly in delivering care in regional and rural
Queensland.
Southern Cross Care (Queensland) is well po-
sitioned to meet these challenges going forward
with the recent appointment of their new chief
executive officer, Jason Eldering.
Mr Eldering brings with him a rich background
in aged care, home care and retirement living,
with almost 20 years’ experience working for not-
for-profit, private and publicly-listed providers.
For the past 12 months, Jason has operated his
consultancy Fore Purpose, whose clients have
included Mercy Partners and the University of
Queensland Health Care.
His previous roles include Queensland opera-
tions manager for Regis Health Care, general
manager at St Vincent’s Health Australia and
executive general manager for Integrated Retire-
ment Communities at Aveo.
Mr Eldering said he was delighted to accept
the role at Southern Cross Care.
“I look forward to working with the Southern
Cross Care team throughout Queensland,” he said.
“Through my work in aged care, home care and
retirement living, I have been made aware of the
wonderful reputation of Southern Cross Care.
“It’s my true privilege to join this team, and I
look forward to meeting staff and residents.”
Mr Eldering added that he was proud of the
services Southern Cross Care delivered through
its beautiful people and dedicated community vol-
unteers who provided care with love and passion.
“Southern Cross Care is consistently an aged-
care and retirement-living provider of choice for
families across Queensland, and I look forward to
continuing this reputation for excellence,” he said.
Southern Cross Care (Queensland) chairman
Don Neander said he was proud of the good
work Southern Cross Care continued to do in
both urban and regional areas, and welcomed Mr
Eldering to the role.
“We are excited about the expertise and
knowledge that Jason will bring to Southern
Cross Care, particularly his 20 years of industry
experience,” he said.
Mr Neander added his thanks on behalf of the
board of directors to the Southern Cross Care
team, who he said continued to make a strong
impact on the lives of Queenslanders in showing
great commitment to the wider communities that
they served.
“In particular I’d like to thank Damien Finger
for his outstanding service as our Interim CEO,”
Mr Neander said.
Mr Eldering will commence in the role on
November 11.
